Book review: Summer at Rose Island
8/10 For Summer at Rose Island by Holly Martin
I can't recommend reading the WCB books enough but be advised: once you start you'll be as invested in these characters as everyone else in the little town of White Cliff Bay ;)

Fall in love with the gorgeous seaside town of White Cliff Bay this summer and enjoy long sunny days, beautiful beaches and… a little romance.
Darcy Davenport is ready for a fresh start. Determined to leave a string of disastrous jobs and relationships behind her, she can’t wait to explore White Cliff Bay and meet the locals.
When Darcy swims in the crystal clear waters of the bay, she discovers the charming Rose Island Lighthouse. But it’s not just the beautiful building that she finds so intriguing…
Riley Eddison doesn’t want change. Desperate to escape the memories of his past, he lives a life of solitude in the lighthouse. Yet he can’t help but notice the gorgeous woman who swims out to his island one day.
Darcy is drawn to the mysterious and sexy Riley, but when it seems the town is trying to demolish his home, she soon finds herself having to pick sides.
She’s fallen in love with White Cliff Bay. But is that all Darcy’s fallen for?
Pull up a deck chair, sink back with a bowl of strawberry ice cream and pick up the summer read you won’t be able to put down.

There's a certain charm about Holly's book which I can't quite put my finger on but from the moment you start you know you're in for a good ride. You recognise Holly's books by easy relatable characters, witty writing and smouldering man. She's so skilled at making you feel at one with her characters that you route for them from page one (even when you don't know what you're routing for yet). It ensures that you are immediately pulled into the story and Summer at Rose Island was no exception.
SARI is the third book in the White Cliff Bay collection and it's the perfect mix of new story and reuniting with old favourites. This time we meet Darcy a marine biologist (how cool is that by the way!! It immediately peaked my interest) recently moved to WCB and ready to leave her failed jobs behind and get a fresh start. When she lays eyes on Riley. The quiet American that lives in the lighthouse (again, how cool is that!).
In a town where everyone knows everyone's business, Riley finds it hard to settle in and then his eye catches Darcy. He's exactly what he didn't need. She has captivated him so much that he's stepped out of his comfort zone more than he'd like.
Admittedly SARI didn't manage to steal Snowflakes on Silver Cove of its 'my favourite' trophee, I was still completely charmed by it.
I loved reading about the blooming and passionate relationship between Riley and Darcy, smiling foolishly upon many occasions and secretly wishing I could jump into the story myself (Seriously, can Holly write my love life?!). But most of all I love this town that already feels like home.
